Continuing our posts on AI in smarthome technology, this week we’re looking at Savant Remote Voice Control.
Savant is a world-leader in home integrations. Savant also allows you to integrate itself with nearly all devices. This puts it at a great advantage to controls such as Crestron, which enables you control only over other devices which are designed to work with Crestron. In other words, you’ll find Savant far more adaptive. For that reason, Savant’s voice controls are a great additional feature.
Simply by clicking the “Voice” option on a Savant Pro Remote, you can speak commands directly to your system. Saying “Play music” plays the next song in your queue of music through your speaker system; whereas “Apple TV” or “Food Network” switches on your TV streaming, or switches channel. You can even have Savant remotely switch your TV inputs with commands such as “Playstation” or “PS4” or “Xbox One”.
Not only this but your integrated lighting can be dimmed, or turned on or off simply via voice command.
However, perhaps the most impressive feature of all of this is the ability to save set-ups which you personally prefer. If you like the lighting levels and music playlist, you only need to say “Capture” and Savant will remember what settings you prefer.
Savant is not yet a full AI system, but the addition of Voice commands to an already established and widespread integrated control system is a welcome start on that road.
